Vintage Makonde Ujamaa (Family Tree) sculptures from Tanzania are intricate, hand-carved, single-piece wooden artworks from the 1950s–1970s representing community and ancestral connection. Created by Makonde artists in Southeast Tanzania and Mozambique, these "Tree of Life" pieces feature interlocking human figures on African Blackwood (mpingo) symbolizing solidarity and generational support.
These sculptures are recognized as significant pieces of 20th-century African art, with intricate, authentic, and older pieces being highly collectible.
